When to Fertilize in the Spring

3/15/2018

Apply Crabgrass Preventer

When should you start to fertilize your lawn in the spring?
A general rule is put down crabgrass preventer and fertilizer before the soil temperature reaches 55 degrees.  A good date would be the middle of April here in Indiana.  If you do it too early it won’t be as effective in the middle of the summer when some weeds will begin to germinate.  Follow the label to figure out how much product to apply.
