How We Install New Lawns
- We only install grass seed. We don't install sod.
- First we grade the area that the seed will be planted.
- Next we remove the large debris like sticks and large rocks.
- Then we plant grass seed and spread starter fertilizer.
- We usually use tall fescue grass because it is drought tolerant and stays green longer into winter and longer in the summer.
- Finally we cover the area with straw.

How to Grow Your New Lawn
- Water the new seed at least once a day. Just enough to keep the surface wet.
- After about 1-2 weeks your seed will germinate. Then you only need to water deeply, so probably only 2-3 times a week.
- Only water in the mornings your you can get fungus on the new grass.
- Mow the new grass when it is tall enough for the mower to cut, about 4 inches tall.
- Stop watering if it is a rainy part of the year of switch to watering 1-2 times a week providing a total of 1 inch of water for one week.
New Lawn Expectations
- Your lawn will only grow as well as you care for it and even then some things can occur that can cause you problems.
- Expect your new lawn to thicken up over the course of a year. If you plant it in the fall then it will be full and thick by the following summer.
- Fertilizing your new lawn is important or the new grass will not grow.
- Watering the new lawn will give you increased germination of the seed but not watering it will give you poor results unless we are at at time of year where it rains frequently and it is cool outside.
- There are many factors that can and can not help. We will do our best to educate you on what is needed at the time we plant your yard.
